                            Once Upon A Preschool DAY:

Community Circle:  Hello song, Star of the day, Show & Share, Letter of the week

Builds self-esteem and respect for self and others as each child experiences being a valuable, contributing members of the class.   Develops basic concepts of self, family and community.  Provides opportunities for social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth development.


Calendar time:  Seasons, Months, Days of the week

Builds confidence as children enjoy personal experiences for language development and math skills.  Introduces children to the concept of time and weather as well as the wonder of the four seasons.  Provides enriching opportunities for emotional, relational, physical and cognitive growth development.


I Wonder: 
A time to discover...Why?  How?  What would happen if? 

Builds curiosity and healthy brain development as children engage in science, math and social studies.  Provides enriching science experiences where children can observe, question, compare, sort, predict, experience and describe.  Provides stimulating hands-on exercises for emotional, relational and cognitive growth development.


Art: 
A time to create, discover, explore, transform recyclables and get messy with a wide variety of art mediums, focusing not on the end result but on the importance of process 

Builds creativity, self-expression and confidence as children engage in a variety of sensory experiences. (ie.  Painting with brushes, fingers, feet, golf balls, forks, sponges, eye droppers, balloons, q-tips, magnets, branches, corks and so much more.) Provides opportunities to foster pride and exercise fine motor skills.


Free Play:
   A time to explore the classroom discovery table, sensory table, science table, free art, art easel, dramatic play, play-doh, puzzles, building blocks, and a variety of small muscle manipulative toys

Builds imagination, independence and personal responsibility as children exercise their freedom for self-expression and personal choice.  Fosters independent, parallel and interactive play.  Utilizes specially designed equipment that specifically relate to the monthly theme.  Provides time to grow socially, relationally, intellectually and physically.


Snack time:
A time for nourishment; Snack provided by the STAR of the day

Builds a sense of community as children eat healthy snacks together, discovering and tasting new foods. 


Large Muscle time: 
A time for children to observe, explore and experience the natural world

Builds confidence and strength as children exercise their large motor skills.  Satisfies a legitimate need for movement.  (ie. Climbing, hopping, skipping, running, sliding, building…) Provides time to grow physically, relationally and socially.


Music time: 
A time for songs, finger plays, instruments and various musical activities that relate well with the monthly theme

Builds new, engaging experiences with the language of music.  Provides time to grow intellectually, socially and physically.


Time for reading with Mrs. Freding:
  A time for storytelling

Builds a love for reading as children actively listen and engage with books being read aloud.  Promotes language arts, social studies and math concepts.


Goodbye Song: A time to provide closure for the preschool day

Builds security as children experience a predictable, loving end to the day.
